How patterns
take hold.
Memetic Design is an ongoing inquiry into how relationships, organizations, technologies, and culture shape what people learn to notice, trust, tolerate, and repeat.
It looks at the conditions that make patterns more likely to persist, without treating those conditions as destiny.
Patterns do not begin in one place.
Something that appears to be an individual preference, decision, or habit may also be conditioned by a relationship, a workplace routine, a technology, or a cultural expectation. Each perspective reveals a different part of how a pattern is formed and kept in motion.
Memetic Design does not use those conditions to explain people away. It asks what a pattern has learned to depend on—and where a person, group, or system can respond differently.
One pattern.
Many conditions.
A recurring pattern can be expressed through a person, between people, within an organization, and across a culture. None of these perspectives explains it alone.

The scales are lenses, not stages.
Changing the lens does not move us up or down a ladder. It changes what part of an interconnected pattern becomes visible—and what conditions may be open to change.
